Kyandra on the Big Screen
There’s something magnetic about people who are just getting started. That mix of curiosity, confidence, and fabulous chaos that comes with chasing something you love. This month’s Girl CRRush, Kyandra Sembel, carries exactly that kind of energy. A rising actress making her big-screen debut as Maura in Rangga & Cinta, Kyandra is already proving that she’s more than just one thing. She acts, she models, she writes songs, all while keeping her signature ease and fresh-faced charm intact. Between takes, she’s still the girl who swears by her bronzer, practices yoga on her days off, and finds magic in the small, simple things. We sat down with her to talk about stepping into new roles, learning from the best, and how she’s finding her rhythm in the spotlight.

Rollover : Tell us about yourself.
Kyandra : I’m Kyandra Sembel, a newcomer to the film industry, making my debut in Rangga & Cinta as Maura. Alongside acting, I also model and write songs. At the core I’ve always loved storytelling—whether through film, music, or simply the way I express myself every day. I’ve always been drawn to creative spaces, and that’s where I feel happiest.

Rollover : What first drew you into acting? Was it always a dream or something you stumbled into?
Kyandra : A little bit of both. I’ve always pictured myself becoming a musician. I grew up in a family where music was always present, so I’ve been writing songs from a young age and I’m also studying music in university. That’s still something I want to pursue and I definitely plan to release music. But acting has always been a dream too. I grew up loving movies, though I never expected I’d actually get the chance to be part of one. So now, as someone new to the industry, it feels like a dream slowly turning into reality.
Rollover: What's your favorite part of becoming a character? Is it the script, the wardrobe, or the freedom to improvise?
Kyandra: Honestly, the whole process excites me. I love diving deeper into my character and really learning from their world. I enjoy working with the script, finding those little moments of improvisation, and of course, the wardrobe plays a big part too. The moment I put on my character’s clothes on set, I always think, ‘Oh my god, I’m really her.’

Rollover: Acting means you're in makeup chairs a lot, what's your own everyday beauty vibe?
Kyandra: Super natural, nothing too crazy. I just like looking fresh and put together. And honestly, I’m a bronzer-over-blush kind of girl, I love my bronzer!
Rollover: Any backstage/on-set beauty tips you've picked up that you now swear by?
Kyandra: Hydrate and moisturize. I’ve always been aware of that, but being on set really reminded me how important it is. With long shooting hours, skin care is just as important as makeup. I’m acne-prone, so doing a full skincare routine before and after makeup makes such a difference.

Rollover: What is your sun, moon, and rising sign?
Kyandra: Aries sun, Gemini moon, Aquarius rising. Please, someone do a full reading on my chart—I’m so curious!
Rollover: Which "it-girl" movie character did you look up to the most?
Kyandra: Andie Anderson from How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days! That’s my favorite movie. I’m a curly-hair girly, so seeing her embrace her curls makes me love mine even more. I adore her energy, she’s just so cute and fun. Also, Lorelai Gilmore, my forever fashion inspo.

Rollover: What does your dream "day-off" activities look like?
Kyandra: A little morning yoga session (either at home or at my go-to studio), then coffee and brunch with friends, maybe watching a good film or reading in the afternoon. Simple things that recharge me.
Rollover: Who inspired you to be the person you are today?
Kyandra: My family, for sure. Especially my dad. He’s always supported my dreams and constantly motivates me to give my best. He’s truly my anchor, he’s the person who keeps me grounded and pushes me forward at the same time. I wouldn’t be who I am or where I am today without him.
